OhmAlloy118 is a nickel-chromium alloy (NiCr alloy) characterized
byHigh resistivity, good oxidation resistance,very good form
stability,good ductility and excellent weldability. It is suitable
for use at temperatures up to 1250°C.
Like nichrome, fecral has a excellent resistance to oxidation. At a high temperature environment, thermodynamically stable
aluminum oxide will be formed on the surface of fecral alloy. The
diffusion rate D at 1200 C is 10-16cm2/sec.
By comparing with nichrome alloys, fecral has a higher resistance and maximum operating temperature. Fecral also has a cheap raw material and lower density. It will save budget. In addition,
fecral has a higher surface load due to the higher maximum temperature and longer life. It also has
a better resistance to sulphur in hot state.
