    About 1746-IN16

    The AB 1746-IN16 is a 24 VDC / 24VAC Sinking input module. This module features Sixteen (16) sinking channels that may be used to interface with discrete input signals that operates with 10-30 VDC and VAC voltage ranges.

    Input modules are used by the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to interface with the process. The actuation of each individual channel represents the actual state of device. Each channel of this module has a dedicated LED indicator to provide visual feedback if the channel has active power or not. These LEDs may also be used as troubleshooting reference as it confirms if the signal coming from the field side has reached the module.

    This module occupies a single slot in any 1746 SLC Chassis. It may be installed in the local chassis together with the PLC Processor or to an SLC expansion slot. It directly mounts to the chassis through the provided male connectors that are aligned with the chassis’ integrated bus connectors similar to any module in the SLC 500 system.

    This module exhibits slightly different signal delay for AC and DC voltages. For AC voltage, ON to OFF and OFF to ON transitions exhibits 25 ms signal delay while for DC supply voltage the experienced signal delay for ON to OFF and OFF to ON transitions are both 15 ms. To configure this module as part of the SLC 500 system, it must be introduced in the hardware configuration of RSLogix 500 software. This software is the common programming software for the SLC 500 controller series.
