The OAU2 board amplifies Extend C-band optical signals and supports
in-service optical performance monitoring, gain locking, and
transient state control.

Description
Basic functions
OAU202: Amplifies the power of Extend C-band optical signals. This
board supports wavelengths within the 1528.8-1567.6 nm range.
Gain adjusting
Gain can be adjusted continuously from the minimum to the maximum.
the range is from 18dB to 23dB.
In-service optical performance monitoring
Provides an in-service monitoring port (MON). This port connects to
an optical spectrum analyzer or spectrum analyzer unit to monitor
the spectrum and optical performance of the multiplexed signal
without affecting traffic.
Gain locking
The EDFA inside the board has the gain lock function. Adding or
dropping one or more channels or optical signal fluctuation does
not affect the signal gain of other channels.
Working mode
Supports Gain locking mode, Power locking mode and APC mode.
The gain locking mode applies to the scenario where all wavelengths
of the added and dropped services are compensated. In this
scenario, an OAU2 board is connected to the multiplexer and
demultiplexer boards.
The power locking mode applies to the dummy light scenario where
the OAU2 board is used as the light source. The optical power can
be gradually increased, and the OAU2 board has light output if no
light input is present.
The APC mode applies to the submarine line side. the OAU2 board
supports gradual increase of the optical power and has no light
output if no light input is present.
NOTE:
After being powered on, a TN97OAU202 board works in APC mode and
has no light output by default. To enable the TN97OAU202 board to
output light, set the locked optical power and turn on the pump
card laser.
Transient control function
The EDFA inside the board has the transient control function. When
channels are added or dropped, the board can suppress the
fluctuation of the optical power in the path so as to implement the
smooth upgrading and expansion.
NOTE:
This function is supported only when a board works in gain locking
mode.
Alarms and performance events monitoring
Detects and reports the optical power.
Monitors the temperature of the pump laser.
Detects the pump driving current, back facet current, pump cooling
current, temperature of the pump laser and the ambient temperature
of the board.
Checks and reports the working status of the pump card.
protection
Provides redundancy protection for secondary power supplies.
Provides redundancy protection for pump cards.
Online replacement of a pump card
When a pump card works properly, you can replace a faulty pump card
without interrupting services.
