RS485 is a baud commnication port within Calin's meter. It provides
the most comprehensive raw data of the meter including metrological
value, firmware version, tariff plans, interval settings, alarm
threshold, etc. Multi-storey buildings, multi-dweller complexing,
student dormitry, body corporates, section-tile community of
densely populated areas are perfect situation for this setup.
Meters are normally locked away from cutomers premises in a cabinet
or kiosk, allowing wired connection in most limited space. For
communication with the back end server, a data collector or
mini-concentrators can be utilized to link with the meter cabinet
as a group control unit, and through GPRS or cable connected to the
head-end server.
The communcation between the meter and the server is two-way,
meaning meter transmit data and receive command from the head-end
as well. A utility can implement load management control with the
data readout and analytic tools of the system.
