HONING CONDITION SOLUTIONS
Poor stone life
1, Decrease cutting pressure
2, use faster spindle speed
3, use harder stone (one with higher hardness number)
4, use coarser grit stone ( one with lower grit number)
5, increase lubricity of honing fluid.
Finish too rough
1, decrease cutting pressure
2, use finer grit stone (one with higher grit number)
3, check the honing oil.
4, through true shoes to exact bore diameter.
5, For extremely fine finish in soft or exotic materials, use
bronze mandrel or bronze shoes.
