Thickness of wire

The thickness of the wire for chain link fence can be quite confusing. Manufacturers

will usually refer to the thickness of the wire is a certain 'gauge', for example, 11 or

12 gauge. Oddly, the higher the number of the gauge, the thinner the wire. Thus,

11 gauge corresponds to a thickness of 0.120 inches, and a 12 gauge corresponds to a

the thickness of only 0.105 inches.
