Chemical composition in weight %: 0.46% C, 0.40% Si, 0.40% Mn, 13.00% Cr, 0.30% V
Steel group: High carbon stainless steel, martensite
Applications: EN 1.4034 ( DIN X46Cr13 ) should be considered for applications such as specialty knives,

industrial knives, cutlery, rolls, plastic extrusion tooling, scissors, surgical knives, bearings, and other

applications that require a combination of corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

Composition (Nominal %):

A version of Type 420 martensitic stainless steel containing nominally 0.5% carbon content providing

a uniform, fine carbide structure. It can be considered for the manufacture of thin sections and fine

blanking operations. 420HC alloy can achieve a tempered hardness capability of HRC 55.

This alloy is part of the martensitic grades family of alloys and is an excellent candidate for cutting instruments

for fine edge components such as razor, cutlery, medical cutting and utility blade applications.
420HC alloy is subject to decarburization during thermal processing. Take precautions to control this condition.
