Galvalume steel sheet is a carbon steel sheet laminated with an
aluminum-zinc alloy. Also known as Zincalume, this product is
protective against corrosion in many conditions, which makes it
ideal for roofing, siding, building components and architectural
panels.
Strong, yet lightweight, Galvalume wont crack or peel when
subjected to weather. Galvalume consists of 55% aluminum, 43.4%
zinc and 1.6% silicon over the base metal. This coating is applied
during a continuous hot-dip process. AZ40, AZ50, AZ55 and AZ60
translate to the coating thickness of .40, .50, .55 and .60 ounces
per square foot, respectively.

While Galvalume has excellent durability in many settings, it
should not be used adjacent to concrete or mortar. Due to the high
alkaline content in these environments, bare and painted Galvalume
rapidly corrode.
Galvanized Steel and Galvanized Steel Coil Products
Galvanized steel products are some of the most prevalent types of
steel products produced in the world. It refers to steel that has
been coated with zinc to create a chemical bond to fight against
corrosion. Galvanized steel is widely used in a variety of
applications because its superior resistance to corrosion ensures a

Flat-rolled Galvanized steel sheet is carbon steel that is immersed
in a bath of molten liquid that consists of at least 98% pure zinc.
This “hot-dipped” process allows the zinc to chemically bond to the
iron in the flat-rolled steel to create an alloy that is ductile
yet durable against corrosion. G-30, G-40, G-60, G-90, and G-100
denote the most common zinc coating weights of 0.30, 0.40, 0.60,
0.90 and .100 ounces per square foot, respectively. Different zinc
coating weights are suitable for different environments and the
amount of corrosion protection required is dependent on the
specific end-use of the material.

Pre-Painted Steel
Pre-painted steel is created by applying a coat of specially
formulated paint to flat-rolled galvanized or Galvalume steel on a
continuous coil coating line. Pre-painted steel combines the
corrosion resistant qualities of coated steel with a beautiful,
colorful, outer layer that transforms any setting where it is
utilized.
Pre-painted steel is often referred to as a duplex coating because
it doubles the sum of the corrosion offered by steel and paint
alone. Not only does adding paint to bare steel extend the life of
the panel, but the durability of the panel allows it to be
roll-formed, slit, or stamped without losing any of its
anti-corrosion properties. Pre-painted steel is used in a variety
of applications such as roofing, rainware, doors, panels, and
appliances.
