    1.You need to select the right stepper motor for your speed and torque requirements

    Usually there is NEMA8, NEMA14, NEMA17, NEMA23, NEMA34 and NEMA42.


    Nema: Nema is not a standard for the electrical characteristics of stepper motors. It is simply refers to the faceplate size. For example NEMA17 means the frame size is 42MM.

    2.Holding torque: The holding torque is the amount of torque required to move the motor one full step while the coils are energized and the rotor is stationary. The stepper motor winding is energized even if the rotor itself is stationary. This is to maintain the load in place while stationary.

    3.Shaft Type: You need to know the physical shape of this motor shaft to match your stepper motor to pulleys, gears, and other external connections such as shaft couplings. There are several common shapes. Also, the length of the shaft needs to be considered.
