    Overview

    The GFI1 cards can be divided into three types: the one supporting the FE electrical interface, the one not supporting the FE electrical interface and the one not supporting the FE optical interface.

    • Supports the aggregation from the WAN port to the GE / FE port; the aggregation rate is 16:1 or 24:1.
    • Supports the VC-12, VC-3 and VC-4 virtual concatenation
    • Implements the GFP-F (provides virtual concatenation; supports LCAS; and provides the complete Ethernet frame in VC-4), HDLC and LAPS data encapsulation formats.
    • Supports the LCAS function.
    • Provides the Layer 2 switching function between GE and FE.
    • Supports QoS.
    • Supports 9624-byte Jumbo frame processing.
    • Supports hot insertion at the optical interface.
    • Supports the seamless switch between the active and standby clock and cross-connect cards.
    • Supports the remote software upgrade.
    • Provides two GE optical interfaces and can provide eight FE electrical interfaces through the ETHIF terminal board.
    • Supports a 1:1 TPS protection group for FE electrical interfaces.
