A magnetic powder clutch is a special type of electromagnetic clutch which does not use friction plates. Instead, it uses a fine powder of magnetically susceptible material (typically stainless steel) to mechanically link an otherwise free wheeling disc attached to one shaft, to a rotor attached to the other shaft.

When a magnetic fieldis applied to the powder, it forms chains connecting the disc and rotor. The strength of the chains depends on the strength of the magnetic field. Installation:

1. Align the mating hole of the bracket with its intended mate on the mounting plate and fix it in place.
2. Be sure to use a flexible coupling to connect the brake shaft to the load shaft.The Concentricity and perpendicularity between the axes must fall within the coupling's allowable range.
3. If a pully is installed,observe the allowable axial load.
