transmitter failure and receiver failure and problems are
concentrated in the following aspects:
1, Optical interface is with pollution and damage, due to pollution
and damage of the optical interface, the optical link loss becomes
larger, and the optical link is blocked. There are many reason
cause pollution and damage:
A. Fiber interface of the optical module exposure to the
environment, dust and pollution come into the interface and module;
B. The end face of the ferrule has been contaminated, the interface

2, ESD damage, the abbreviation "ESD", is a rising time can be less

10000 1/100000000 seconds), it is a very fast process; ESD can
generate dozens of Kv/m even more intense electromagnetic pulse.
Electrostatic will absorb dust, change impedance between lines, and
effect product life and function; heat generated by instantaneous
electric field or current of ESD will injure the element , it still
can work in short time but will reduce the working life; it even
damage insulation or conductor of the element so the element cannot
work (destroyed). ESD is inevitable. In addition to improving the
ESD resistance of electronic components, it is important to use it
properly.
Main reasons cause ESD damage:
A. environment is dry and ESD is easy to happen;
B, Abnormal operation, such as: non hot plug optical module is
operated with electrification; directly touch the electrostatic
sensitive pin of optical module by hand without electrostatic
protection; there is no anti-static packaging in the process of
transportation and storage;
C. Device is not grounded or has not grounded in good condition.
