GABIONS (Higher than 1m in height) and MATTRESSES (Less than 1m in height) consist of rectangular units, fabricated
from a double-twisted hexagonal mesh.
Filled with stones, gabions become large, flexible and permeable
elements from which a broad range of structures may be built.
Gabions and mattresses are widely used for hydraulic and geo-
technical control such as retaining walls, riverbank protections,
weirs, channel linings etc.

Applications:

very cost effective. It is easy to construct, requiring limited
equipment, unskilled labor, minimal foundation preparation, no
drainage provisions, and the filling stones are generally provided
by a local stone or rock supplier. Gabion & Reno Mattress
structures require very little cost if designed and built properly.
It can be a permanent structure.
Aesthetics. Gabions & Reno Mattresses can create visually pleasing
structures. Unlike other types of materials such as modular block
walls, the gabion stones do not discolor due to drainage. In fact,
the longer a gabion or reno mattress structure is in place and
becomes inundated with vegetation, the more aesthetic it becomes.
