FC / APC Fiber Optic Attenuator is a component installed in a fiber optic transmission system that reduces the power in the optical signal. And it is often used to limit the optical power received by the photo detector to within the limits of the optical receiver.

FC/APC Fiber optic attenuators are used to decrease signal power of the outputs of light sources and electrical-to-optical converters. They also can be used to confirm the dynamic range of photo sensors and photo detectors. Attenuators can be used by single-mode and multi-mode optical cables.
