Purpose and Importance

productivity. A pneumatic quick-change system eliminates these
issues by providing repeatable positioning, automatic air/electrical connection, and secure locking mechanisms activated by compressed air.

Working Principle
The Gripper Pneumatic Quick-Change System consists of two main
components:
Master Plate (Robot Side) – Permanently attached to the robot wrist or handling arm.
Tool Plate (Gripper Side) – Mounted on the gripper or end-effector to be exchanged.
When a tool change is required, compressed air activates the
locking mechanism—typically pneumatic pistons or clamping balls—that engage or disengage the two plates. The system often includes
integrated pneumatic and electrical connectors that automatically connect air lines and signal interfaces during
attachment. Once locked, the connection is rigid, ensuring high repeatability and precision alignment.
Release is achieved by reversing the air pressure, allowing the
robot to detach the current gripper and attach another within
seconds.
