- Key functions & working principle
| Working Principle | 1. Fuel Intake: Low-pressure fuel from the fuel tank (supplied by a lift pump)
enters the injection pump’s housing, filling the space around the
plunger/barrel assembly. |
| 2. Pressure Generation: The engine’s camshaft drives the pump’s camshaft, pushing the
plunger upward. This compresses the fuel in the plunger chamber,
raising pressure to 180–220 MPa. |
| 3. Fuel Metering: The plunger’s helical groove controls the amount of fuel
delivered – rotating the plunger (via the governor) adjusts the
fuel volume for different engine loads/speeds. |
| 4. Injection Timing: The delivery valve opens at peak pressure, sending metered fuel
through high-pressure lines to the engine’s fuel injectors, which
spray fuel into the combustion chambers. |
| 5. Governor Regulation: As engine speed changes, the centrifugal flyweights in the
governor adjust the plunger position to maintain consistent speed
(e.g., reduce fuel delivery at high speed to prevent overspeeding). |
