What is Hirudin Powder?
Hirudin is the most active and extensively studied component among
the various active ingredients extracted from leeches and their
salivary glands. It is a small polypeptide composed of 65-66 amino
acids. Leeches are rich in hirudin, which has a very strong
inhibitory effect on thrombin, making it the strongest natural
specific inhibitor of thrombin discovered to date. Hirudin
possesses strong anticoagulant and antithrombotic effects, and has
broad application prospects in the clinical treatment and
prevention of various types of thrombosis.
Feature
Potential and Specific Inhibition of Thrombin:Thrombin is the "central processor" in the coagulation process,
catalyzing the conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin, forming a
network of thrombi. Hirudin binds irreversibly to thrombin at a 1:1
ratio with extremely high affinity, directly and thoroughly
inhibiting its activity and preventing fibrin formation at its
source.
Anti-Platelet Aggregation: Thrombin itself is a powerful platelet activator. By inhibiting
thrombin, hirudin can also indirectly prevent platelet aggregation
and activation, thus doubly blocking thrombus formation.
Unblocking Blood Vessels and Improving Microcirculation:Through highly effective anticoagulation, it reduces blood
viscosity, dissolves existing microthrombi, and thus improves
systemic blood flow and microcirculation.
Applications
Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases: Used as an adjunct treatment for conditions such as angina
pectoris and cerebral infarction, improving blood flow by reducing
the risk of thrombosis.
Postoperative Care: Prevents deep vein thrombosis after surgical procedures (such as
joint replacement and vascular surgery).
Trauma and Microcirculatory Disorders: Topical preparations can reduce swelling after soft tissue injury;
oral or injectable medications help improve ischemic organ lesions.
