Q1: What is the 991 Thrust Transmitter used for?
A1: It is used to measure axial displacement (thrust or shaft axial position) in rotating machinery (e.g., centrifugal compressors, small pumps,

motors, fans) and convert that to a 4‑20 mA output signal for control

or protection systems.

Q2: What signal output does the 991 provide?
A2: It provides a 4‑20 mA current loop output proportional to the thrust position (axial displacement).

Q3: What is required in terms of input sensor?
A3: It accepts as input one non‐contact proximity probe (specifically one of

the Bently Nevada 3300 NSv series

probes and extension

cable).
