Product Description
A 3-strand Polyethylene (PE) rope is a classic and widely used type
of synthetic rope. It is manufactured by twisting three individual
strands of polyethylene yarns together in a helical pattern,
creating a twisted or "hawser-laid" construction.
Polyethylene itself is a common plastic polymer, and the rope made
from it is characterized by its stiffness and rigid feel compared
to more flexible ropes like polypropylene. It is a cost-effective
general-purpose rope for light to medium-duty tasks.
Key Features
Excellent Buoyancy: PE has a density less than water (approximately
0.94-0.96 g/cm³), making the rope float very reliably. This is its
most significant advantage for many water-related applications.
Low Cost: It is one of the most economical synthetic ropes
available, providing a low-cost solution for applications where
ultra-high strength is not a requirement.
Good Weather and Moisture Resistance: PE rope does not absorb water
and is highly resistant to rot, mildew, and the degrading effects
of seawater.
Chemical Resistance: It has good resistance to many common
chemicals, acids, and alkalis, making it suitable for certain
industrial environments.
Adequate Abrasion Resistance: It offers reasonable durability
against wear and abrasion for its price point.
