Application:
The KRP1551 speed sensor is engineered for the Perkins 2306C,
2306D, 2806A, 2806C and 2806D turbocharged six-cylinder diesels
(15.2–18.1 L), and is directly retro-fittable to the 4.236, T4.236
and AT4.236 turbocharged four-cylinder 4.0 L engines. These power
units are widely used across agricultural tractors, combine
harvesters, 100–250 kVA generator sets, tele-handlers, wheel
loaders and marine auxiliary drives. In these applications the
sensor bolts through the flywheel housing and measures the
rotational speed of the 118-tooth crankshaft ring gear, delivering
a digital square-wave or analogue sinusoidal signal to the engine
control unit. This real-time data is essential for precise fuel
injection timing, automatic idle control, governor regulation and
diagnostics, ensuring reliable cold starts and optimum performance
under varying load and ambient conditions.
Technical specifications:
The unit is a Hall-effect two-wire speed sensor with M12 × 1.5 male
thread and 19 mm hex, 50 mm overall length and 90 g net weight. It
operates from 8–30 V DC, draws <15 mA and delivers a 0–5 V
square-wave or 0–100 V peak-to-peak sinusoidal signal whose
frequency is proportional to engine rpm. Measurement range is 30–6
000 rpm with ±1 % accuracy over –40 °C to +120 °C.
Material & performance features:
The body is machined from 1.4571 (AISI 316Ti) stainless steel for
superior corrosion resistance in marine, agricultural and
high-humidity environments. The sensing element is encapsulated in
high-temperature epoxy resin achieving IP67 ingress protection, and
the assembly withstands 1 000 h salt-spray exposure per ASTM B117.
