Application:
The 2486A218 plate-type oil cooler is designed for Perkins 4.236,
T4.236 and AT4.236 turbo-diesel engines (4.0 L, 4-cylinder) that
power Massey Ferguson 2400-, 3400- and 550-series tractors, MF 7200
combine harvesters, JCB 3CX backhoe loaders and 530-70
telehandlers, plus FG Wilson P22-6 and Pramac GSW85P generator
sets. It bolts directly to the oil-filter pad on the left-hand side
of the cylinder block and keeps engine-oil temperature within
90–110 °C under full-load conditions in agricultural, construction
and standby-power applications.
Technical specifications:
Flat-plate aluminium core measures 150 mm × 120 mm × 30 mm and
employs 18 internal plates to provide a heat-transfer surface of
0.22 m². Coolant flow rate is 8 L/min at 80 °C, oil flow rate 6
L/min at 120 °C, yielding a temperature drop ≥ 15 °C across the
core. Inlet/outlet ports are 3/4-16 UNF straight threads with Viton
O-ring seals; mounting flange is SAE J1920 size 1 with two M8
threaded holes on 70 mm centres. Maximum working pressure is 8 bar
oil side / 3 bar coolant side, burst pressure 25 bar. All gaskets
and seals are FKM (Viton) for biodiesel, synthetic and mineral oils
from −45 °C to +150 °C.
Material & performance features:
The brazed-aluminium plate-and-fin core offers excellent thermal
conductivity and corrosion resistance; external shell is
powder-coated for salt-spray protection. Precision-welded internal
fins create turbulent flow that increases heat-exchange efficiency
by 20 % compared with traditional tube-and-fin coolers. A built-in
thermostatic bypass valve opens at 85 °C to shorten warm-up time
and reduce cold-start wear. Lightweight at 1.15 kg and sealed for
life, the unit is vibration-tested to 20 g and
pressure-pulse-tested to 100 000 cycles for long service life in
harsh field conditions.
