ASTM A334 This specification covers several grades of minimum-wall-thickness, seamless and welded, carbon and alloy-steel tubes intended for use at low temperatures. Some product sizes may not be available under this specification because heavier wall thicknesses have an adverse affect on low-temperature impact properties.

The advantages of ASTM A334 Grade 6 Tubes in low-temperature service are directly tied to their specific chemistry and manufacturing process, making them a superior choice for critical cryogenic and arctic applications.

1.Exceptional Low-Temperature Toughness: The addition of nickel ensures the steel retains its ductility and ability to deform plastically, absorbing energy instead of fracturing catastrophically.

3.Good Strength at Low Temperatures: A334 Gr. 6 maintains adequate mechanical strength in cold service.

Chemical Composition (%)

For each reduction of 0.01% carbon below 0.30%, an increase of 0.05% manganese above 1.06% will be permitted to a maximum of 1.35% manganese.
