Production Process of Embossed Stainless Steel Plates
Embossed stainless steel plates are widely used in decoration,
household appliances, and industrial fields due to their anti-slip,
aesthetic, and corrosion-resistant properties. Their production
follows a systematic 6-step process, ensuring consistent quality
and precise patterns.
First, substrate preparation lays the foundation. High-quality stainless steel coils/sheets
(typically 201, 304, or 316 grades) are selected. The substrates
undergo degreasing with alkaline solutions to remove oil, followed
by pickling in nitric-hydrofluoric acid mixtures to eliminate oxide
scales. This step ensures a clean, smooth surface for subsequent
embossing, preventing pattern defects.
Second, embossing forming shapes the pattern. The cleaned substrate is fed into a roller
embossing machine, where two counter-rotating engraved rollers (one
male, one female) apply controlled pressure (5-20 MPa) and speed
(1-5 m/min). Common patterns like diamond, 扁豆 (lentil), and
checkered are pressed onto the surface. The roller temperature
(50-100°C) is adjusted to enhance pattern clarity without damaging
the steel.
Third, heat treatment relieves internal stress. After embossing, the plates are annealed
in a continuous furnace at 800-1050°C for 10-30 minutes. This
process eliminates stress caused by pressing, improves the steel’s
toughness, and maintains pattern stability—avoiding deformation
during later processing.
Fourth, surface finishing boosts performance. The annealed plates go through passivation
(dipping in chromic acid solution) to form a protective oxide film,
enhancing corrosion resistance. Optional treatments include
brushing (for a matte texture) or polishing (for a glossy look),
based on customer needs.
Fifth, cutting and leveling ensures precision. Using laser or shearing machines, the embossed
coils are cut into standard or custom sizes (tolerances within
±0.5mm). A leveling machine then corrects minor warping,
guaranteeing flatness for installation.
Finally, quality inspection and packaging finalizes the product. Inspectors check pattern uniformity, surface
defects (scratches, pits), dimensional accuracy, and corrosion
resistance via salt spray tests. Qualified plates are wrapped in PE
film and packed in wooden crates to prevent scratches during
transportation.
