Introduction to the Gas Detector XCD Series

The Sensepoint XCD series can comprehensively monitor flammable, toxic, and oxygen hazards in potential explosive environments both indoors and outdoors. Users can modify the detector's operation using an LCD and a magnetic switch without having to open the device. This enables single-person, non-intrusive operation and reduces daily maintenance time and costs.

The fixed ammonia gas alarm produced belongs to the Sensepoint XCD series. This device uses electrochemical sensors (ECC) to detect toxic gases and oxygen, and is suitable for industrial-grade gas detection scenarios.

The Sensepoint XCD has an integrated mounting plate for surface mounting and can also be mounted to horizontal or vertical pipes using the optional pipe mounting bracket SPXCDALMG1. The SPXCDALMG1 can be installed electrically using conduit or cable with appropriate mechanical protection. Two M20 or ¾” NPT entries are available (depending on certification). The SPXCDALMG1 also includes a weather cap for use in harsh outdoor conditions. Other optional accessories include a sunshade/drain protector, a pipe mounting kit, and a collection cone.

The Sensepoint XCD eliminates hot work permits in hazardous areas, ensuring easy installation and fast routine operation. Downtime is also reduced with the use of easily replaceable plug-in sensors, and ongoing costs are minimized through the use of poison-resistant flammable sensors and the patented Surecel toxic sensor.

XCD transmitters are available in three different types for use with three different sensor series.

The SPXCDALMG1 mV transmitter is designed for use with the mV XCD sensor series, including catalytic sensors for detecting combustible gases in the 0-100% LEL range and infrared (IR) sensors for detecting hydrocarbon gases in the 0-100% LEL range. The SPXCDALMG1 has two IR hydrocarbon sensors. One is linearized for methane, and the other for propane. The propane version has linear cross-sensitivity factors for ethylene, butane, and pentane. There is also an IR CO2 sensor with a range of 0-2% Vol.

The EC transmitter can be used with the EC XCD sensor family, including carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and hydrogen (H2O).

The oxygen transmitter is used with the oxygen (O2) XCD sensor.

The transmitter automatically recognizes any sensor from its sensor family. The sensor simply plugs into the bottom of the transmitter, and the transmitter automatically configures accordingly.
