The pressure swing adsorption (PSA) nitrogen generator developed by
Jiangsu Luoming is a device that extracts nitrogen from the air
based on the adsorption principle. Here is a straightforward
breakdown of its working process:
Adsorption Towers: This nitrogen generator is equipped with two adsorption towers,
which are filled with a substance known as molecular sieve (usually
carbon molecular sieve, or CMS for short). These towers are linked
to a compressed air supply.
Adsorption Stage: Compressed air, which contains oxygen, nitrogen, and other gases,
flows into one of the adsorption towers under high pressure. The
CMS has a stronger attraction to oxygen molecules compared to
nitrogen molecules. As the compressed air passes through the CMS,
oxygen molecules are absorbed onto the surface of the CMS first,
while nitrogen molecules go through and are released as the
intended product.
Nitrogen Output: The nitrogen-rich gas collected from the adsorption towers has a
much lower oxygen content. Generally, the purity of this nitrogen
gas is between 95% and 99.999%.
By applying PSA technology, such nitrogen generators can produce
nitrogen on-site in a reliable and economical way, doing away with
the need for storing or transporting nitrogen cylinders. They are
used in a wide range of industries, including food packaging,
electronics production, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and chemical
