    GEOMAX INTRODUCTION


    GeoMax® Geocells are strong, 3D honeycomb structures made of tough, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) sheets that are welded together using ultrasound.

    It is possible to fill these cells with sand, soil or other materials from the area, which could make them a useful and affordable solution for many geotechnical projects.

    This new system appears to offer good value for money. Its uses are varied, including but not limited to driveways, highways, railroads, landscaping, landfills, parking lots and pipelines. It is hoped that the system will save a lot of time and labour by reducing project costs, reducing environmental impact, and making installation easier.

    FAQ:

    1. Q: What are the requirements for Geocell when used for railway subgrade reinforcement to meet the strict settlement standards of railways?
    A: Railway subgrades require long - term settlement ≤ 15mm and differential settlement ≤ 5mm/m. Therefore, Geocell used should have a tensile strength ≥ 20MPa, a creep rate ≤ 3% under 20% of the ultimate load, and a cell height of 150 - 200mm. The filling material should be graded gravel with a uniformity coefficient of 5 - 15 and a curvature coefficient of 1 - 3, compacted to a relative density of ≥ 90%. Additionally, the Geocell should be fixed with galvanized steel anchors (length ≥ 500mm) at a spacing of 300mm along the edges and joints.
    1. Q: In railway bridge - subgrade transition sections, how to use Geocell to reduce settlement differences between the bridge and the subgrade?
    A: The transition section should adopt a stepped Geocell layout. Within 5m from the bridge abutment, use Geocell with a cell height of 200mm; from 5m to 10m, use 150mm cell height; and beyond 10m, use 100mm cell height. The Geocell should be connected to the bridge abutment through pre - embedded steel plates (thickness ≥ 8mm), and the filling material should be cement - stabilized gravel (cement content 3% - 5%) to improve the stiffness of the transition section. The compaction should be carried out in layers (layer thickness ≤ 200mm) with a vibratory roller, and the compaction degree should reach ≥ 96%.
