Air springs exhibit nonlinear characteristics, with their stiffness
varying with load. This allows their natural frequency to remain
nearly constant under any load, resulting in a virtually unchanging
spring mechanism. They also offer excellent high-frequency
vibration absorption and sound insulation. They can withstand both
axial and radial loads, and their load-bearing capacity can be
adjusted by adjusting the internal pressure.
Therefore, they can adapt to a wide range of load requirements.
Within their effective travel, air springs can adjust their
stiffness, height, cavity volume, and load capacity by increasing
or decreasing the inflation pressure. Simultaneously, their
stiffness, height, cavity volume, and load capacity undergo smooth,
cyclical, flexible changes as the load increases or decreases,
enabling flexible load transfer, effective travel adjustment, and
efficient control of vibration amplitude and load. Additional air
chambers can be added, utilizing a solenoid valve and air pump for
automatic adjustment.
Due to these characteristics, air springs are increasingly used in
equipment and instruments requiring travel control, vibration
damping, or seismic isolation, such as trains, automobiles,
papermaking machines, lifting platforms, presses, vibrating
conveyors, vibrating screens, air hammers, vibration testing
machines, and foundry machinery.
