The desilter serves as the core third-stage purification equipment
in solid control systems, typically installed after the shale
shaker and desander. It efficiently separates ultrafine solids
(15–44 microns, or 400–300 mesh) from drilling fluid, playing a
critical role in reducing fluid density, controlling friction, and
protecting valuable downstream equipment such as centrifuges and
mud pumps.
