Purpose:
To assess the durability of both threaded and non-threaded
terminals under typical mechanical stress conditions. Specifically,
to verify that the design and construction of threaded clamp
terminals ensure minimal damage to the wire during the clamping
process.
Structure and Function:
Features a guide screw structure.
Allows presetting the number of tests, and it will automatically
stop at the set value with a sound alarm signal.
Relevant Clause Details:
Step 1: Secure the ConnectorAttach the connector to a conductor
that is at least 76 mm (3 inches) longer than the height listed in
Table 26. Ensure the connector is secured vertically to mimic
real-world conditions.Step 2: Pass Through the BushingGuide the
free end of the conductor through a bushing sized as per Table 26.
This bushing is attached to an arm powered by a motor, which
rotates at approximately 9 revolutions per minute (rpm). The
bushing's center should trace a minimum diameter circle of 76 mm (3
inches) in a horizontal plane, positioned directly below the
connector's opening.Step 3: Adjust the Bushing PositionEnsure the
gap between the top of the bushing and the connector's mouth is
within 12.7 mm (0.5 inches) of the height specified in Table
26.Step 4: Lubricate and SuspendApply lubricant to the bushing to
prevent the insulated conductor from binding, twisting, or
rotating. Then, hang the specified mass from Table 26 at the free
end of the conductor to simulate the weight and movement of the
conductor in service.
