much power their batteries have at any time, and there are many
software that can display the remaining power percentage to single
digits, but to put it mildly, this is actually all blind, just a
little meaning, because there is no technology that can estimate
the remaining power of lithium-ion batteries so accurately, because
there are too many factors affecting the use of electricity,
including ambient temperature, battery charge and discharge
history, discharge rate, etc., and these factors are changing at
any time.
Now, researchers at the University of North Carolina have made a
breakthrough by developing new technology and software that can
more accurately display the remaining battery charge in real time,
with an error of less than 5%. In other words, if the software
shows 48% battery remaining, it will actually be between 43-53%.
To account for the effects of these factors, the researchers fed
data into a computer model multiple times to adapt to the changing
factors, and then the software identified the changes to more
accurately estimate the percentage of electricity remaining.
The technology, which can be used not only in smartphones and
tablets, but also in electric vehicles, can give drivers a sense of
how long they can drive, and help developers build longer-lasting
batteries and more efficient battery management technologies.
