IG541 fire extinguishing system is a new type of gas fire
extinguishing system developed in recent years. It is one of the
ideal alternatives to halon fire extinguishing system.
IG541 is a widely available and non-corrosive gas that neither
supports combustion nor reacts with most substances. The fire
extinguishing agent contains only three inert gases that exist in
nature: 52% nitrogen, 40% argon, and 8% carbon dioxide. The ozone
depletion potential (ODP) value is zero, and it will not have a
greenhouse effect on the earth.
IG541, as an effective fire extinguishing agent, has many excellent
properties: non-corrosive, non-destructive, no adverse
decomposition products, no residue left after extinguishing the
fire, and non-conductive, so it can be used in electrical fire
hazards; it can be sprayed through pipes and nozzles with its own
pressure, and can penetrate and diffuse to all parts of the
dangerous area; it is easy to obtain and the price is lower than
other fire extinguishing systems.
When IG541 fire extinguishing agent is sprayed into the protected
area, the air in the area is mixed with a gas mixture that meets
the design concentration range. Its release reduces the oxygen
concentration in the area to below 15% and extinguishes the fire,
while the carbon dioxide concentration rises to 4%. The increase in
carbon dioxide concentration speeds up people's breathing rate and
ability to absorb oxygen, so that people's breathing is not
affected in an oxygen-deficient environment, and there is no
suffocation hazard to the human body.
