    RoHS Certification Ensuring Safe and Sustainable EEE Production

    EU ROHS
    RoHS Certification Introduction
    The full name of the RoHS Directive is The Restriction of the use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment. In 2002, the EU first proposed the RoHS concept - a directive to restrict the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products (EEE).

    Directive 2002/95/EC or RoHS: On July 21, 2011, the EU restricted the use of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in the production process of certain electrical and electronic equipment sold in the EU.

    Directive 2011/65/EU or RoHS 2: On January 2, 2013, the EU restricted lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr VI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (referred to as phthalate 4P).

    In addition to the EU, other countries and regions around the world such as China, California, Singapore, India, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, etc. have also successively issued RoHS control requirements, making RoHS the most basic entry threshold for electronic and electrical products to enter the global market.
    Testing items and regulatory requirements
    The content of each homogeneous material shall not exceed the following limits:
    Lead: limit 1000ppm
    Mercury: limit 1000ppm
    Hexavalent chromium: limit 1000ppm
    Cadmium: limit 100ppm
    Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB): limit 1000ppm
    Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE): limit 1000ppm
    Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): limit 1000ppm
    Dibutyl phthalate (DBP): limit 1000ppm
    Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP): limit 1000ppm
    Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP): 1000ppm
    Applicable product range
    The RoHS directive covers a wide range of products, covering almost all electronic and electrical products and their raw materials:

    Category 1 - Large household appliances
    Category 2 - Small household appliances
    Category 3 - IT and communication equipment
    Category 4 - Consumer equipment Preparation
    Category 5 - Lighting equipment
    Category 6 - Electronic and electrical tools
    Category 7 - Toys, leisure and sports equipment
    Category 8 - Medical equipment
    Category 9 - Monitoring equipment including industrial monitoring and control instruments
    Category 10 - Vending machines
    Category 11 - Other EEE not included in the above categories

    2. For brominated flame retardant testing only: about 10-20g of solids and 10-20mL of liquids are required;
    3. For heavy metal and organic pollutant testing: provide about 20-30g of samples;
    4. For other organic pollutant testing: provide about 30g of samples;
    5. For samples of coating (coating) parts only, the approximate weight of the material parts of the coating (coating) must be indicated; if the weight of the coating (coating) parts does not meet the sample delivery requirements, the raw materials of the coating (coating) must be provided.
