Introduction
By quickly and reliably detecting the presence of smoke and
activating an alarm, conventional smoke detectors play a critical
role in fire safety, providing early warning of potential fires and
allowing building occupants to evacuate the premises in a timely
manner.
The primary function of a conventional smoke detector is to detect
the presence of smoke, which is an early indicator of a fire, and
to activate an alarm to alert building occupants of the potential
fire hazard.
Here are the key functions of a conventional smoke detector:
Smoke Detection:
Conventional smoke detectors use either ionization or photoelectric
(optical) smoke detection technology to sense the presence of smoke
particles in the air.
The detector's sensor continuously monitors the surrounding
environment for changes in the concentration of smoke particles.
When the smoke density reaches a pre-determined threshold, the
detector recognizes the presence of smoke.
Alarm Activation:
Upon detecting smoke, the conventional smoke detector will activate
an alarm to notify building occupants of the potential fire
emergency.
The alarm can take the form of an audible signal, such as a buzzer
or siren, and/or a visual signal, such as a flashing light.
The alarm is designed to be loud and attention-grabbing to ensure
that occupants are aware of the need to evacuate the building.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Some conventional smoke detectors may be connected to a centralized
fire alarm control panel or system.
This allows the status of the smoke detector, including any alarm
conditions, to be monitored and reported to a central location,
such as a fire station or security office.
Self-Monitoring and Testing:
Many conventional smoke detectors incorporate self-monitoring and
testing capabilities to ensure they remain in good working order.
This may include periodic self-checks of the sensor, power supply,
and internal components, as well as the ability to perform manual
testing by the building occupants or maintenance personnel.

Installation
IMPORTANT: The detector must be tested and maintained regularly following NFPA 72 requirements. The detector should be cleaned at least once a year.
INSTALLATION
NOTE: All wiring must conform to applicable local codes, ordinances, and regulations.
NOTE: Verify that all detector bases are installed, that the initiating-device circuits have been tested, and that the wiring is correct.
Remove power from initiating-device circuits before installing detectors.
1. Wire the sensor base per the wiring diagram, Figure 1.
2. Install the sensor into the sensor base. Push the sensor into the
base while turning it clockwise to secure it in place.
3. After all sensors have been installed, apply power to the control
unit.
4. Test the sensor(s) as described in the TESTING section of this
manual.
5. Notify the proper authorities that the system is in operation.
Warning:Forbid connect 24VDC directly without current-limiting resistance.
Otherwise, the detector would be burnt out.
