The oval form can also be used in flange connections with RTJ¬groove [flank angles 23°] according to the above mentioned norm. The spherical surface of the gasket is pressed against the cone surface of the flange when clamping it, which creates a linear contact between flange and gasket. The metal ring is deformed further with increasing assembly force and the contact surface is widened. The size of the sealing surface there¬fore depends on the applied assembly force; the oval shape is preferred if the bolt forces are low and the radial elongations/ offsets vary.

It is designed to with stand exceptionally high assembly loads over a small area, thus producing high seating stresses.Ring type Joint Gaskets are designed to seal by "initial line contact" or wedging action between the mating flange and the gasket. By applying pressure on the seal interface through bolt force, the softer metal of the gasket flows into the imperfections of the harder flange material, creating a very tight and efficient seal.

The contact face is in oval shape. It provides a high reliabililty seal. These gaskets are manufactured in accordance to API 6A of ASME B16.20 to suit API613 and ASME/ANSI B16.5 Flanges. Fits the round and flat bottom ring groove flange

The outer surface of each Ring Type Joint should show the manufacturer’s name or a trademark, the gasket number like R67, RX37 or BX155, gasket’s material in abbreviation(check below our chart), as well as the standards like ASME B16.20, API 6A, API 17D, etc.
