Rising-stem flanged gate valves are a common type of gate valve.

1.Structural Features
Valve Stem: The valve stem features a rising-stem design, meaning the threads
are exposed on the outside of the valve body. During valve opening
and closing, the stem moves up and down as the gate disc raises and
lowers. The position of the stem is visually visible, indicating
the valve's open or closed state.
Disc: The disc is a key valve component, typically wedge-shaped or
parallel. It fits tightly against the valve seat, blocking the flow
of the medium.
Flange Connection: The valve body has flanges at both ends, which connect to the pipe
flange via bolts. This connection is easy to install and
disassemble, provides excellent sealing performance, and is
suitable for piping systems with various pressure and temperature
conditions.
Actuation: A common method is handwheel drive, where rotating the handwheel
rotates the valve stem, raising and lowering the disc. Other
actuation methods include electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic, to
meet diverse operating conditions and automation control
requirements.
2.Working Principle
Turning the handwheel or other drive device rotates the valve stem.
The threaded structure of the valve stem converts this rotational
motion into linear motion, thereby raising or lowering the gate
disc. When the gate disc is fully raised, the valve is open,
allowing the medium to pass freely. When the gate disc is fully
lowered and tightly seated against the valve seat, the valve is
closed, blocking the flow of the medium.
3.Applications
Water supply and drainage systems: Used to control the flow of water in urban water supply and
drainage pipelines, such as the inlet and outlet pipes of water
plants and the water supply mains in residential communities.
Industrial pipelines: Used to shut off or connect various media such as oil, natural
gas, steam, and cooling water in industrial sectors such as
petroleum, chemical, power, and metallurgy.
Fire protection systems: As a key valve in fire protection pipelines, it is used to quickly
open or close the water flow in the event of a fire, ensuring the
supply and control of firefighting water.
4.Advantages
Intuitive opening and closing status: The rising stem design allows the operator to quickly and
accurately determine whether the valve is open or closed by
observing the position of the valve stem, reducing the possibility
of misoperation.
Easy Maintenance: Because the valve stem threads are exposed, they are easier to
inspect, lubricate, and replace during repair and maintenance.
Excellent Sealing: The sealing surface between the gate and valve seat is
precision-machined, providing a strong seal and reducing the risk
of media leakage.
