• Function

1.Sealing: The piston rings can create a seal between the piston and the cylinder wall, preventing the high - pressure gas in the combustion chamber from leaking into the crankcase. This ensures that the combustion chamber can generate sufficient pressure, which is crucial for the engine to output the designed power and improves the engine's thermal efficiency.

2.Oil Control: The piston rings can scrape off the excess lubriing oil on the cylinder wall to prevent the oil from entering the combustion chamber, reducing oil consumption. Meanwhile, they can evenly distribute a proper amount of oil on the cylinder wall to form an oil film, which plays a role in lubriion and reduces the friction and wear between the piston and the cylinder wall.
