2205 vs. 2507 | Duplex Grade Selection: 2205 vs. 2507
Choosing the right duplex grade is critical. 2205 is the most
widely used “workhorse” grade, offering an excellent balance of
high strength and corrosion resistance for a wide range of
demanding applications. 2507 is a "super duplex steel" with higher
chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content, which makes it stronger
and more corrosion-resistant than 2205. Especially in extreme
corrosive environments such as high chloride and acid, 2507 is the
first choice to ensure the ultimate reliability of the system.
Introduction to Polished Finish
Our seamless pipes can provide a precision polished surface. This
is a process that mechanically treats the outer surface of the pipe
to obtain a high finish. For pipes that transport corrosive media,
a smooth surface is not only beautiful, but more importantly, it
can reduce the risk of media adhesion and bacterial growth, and
improve the convenience of cleaning the pipe. At the same time,
polishing can also enhance the passivation film on the surface of
the material to a certain extent, thereby improving its corrosion
resistance and ensuring the efficiency and purity of the system.
Application in Corrosive Media
Duplex steel seamless pipes are designed for the transportation of
various corrosive media. In the field of chemical processing, they
are used to transport acids, alkalis and chloride-containing
solutions. In the oil and gas industry, they are used to handle
corrosive wet gas and production fluids. In addition, due to its
excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, duplex steel pipes are
also an indispensable core material in seawater desalination (RO)
and marine engineering, ensuring the long-term reliability of
equipment in these highly corrosive environments.
Quality Control System
We are well aware of the stringent quality requirements for pipes
that transport corrosive media. SMLSCO implements a strict
three-step inspection system: from incoming material composition
verification, to dimensional and surface control during production,
to 100% final inspection of each finished pipe. We implement a
series of non-destructive tests including PMI chemical analysis,
eddy current or hydrostatic flaw detection to ensure that the
products fully comply with ASTM A789 standards and provide reliable
products with complete quality records for critical applications.
