How to judge whether the battery is failed and needs to be replaced:

1. Through the charge and discharge test, if the actual capacity is less than 80% of the nominal capacity, it needs to be replaced.

2. Measured with a battery internal resistance tester, if the internal resistance increases by more than 50% compared to the initial value, it usually indicates that the battery is aging.

3. After being fully charged, the static voltage is continuously lower than the rated value (such as 12V battery is lower than 10.5V), or the voltage of a single battery in the series group is significantly lower (difference> 15%).

4. Appearance and physical damage: battery shell swelling, electrolyte leakage or white crystals appear on the terminal, the safety valve of the valve-regulated battery is frequently opened or cannot be closed.

5. The battery is not fully charged for a long time or the charger prompts abnormality.

6. The voltage drops rapidly under load (such as powerless start when starting the vehicle).

The design life of VRLA batteries is usually 3-5 years (floating charge use) or 2-3 years (cycle use). If it is close to or exceeds the life, it is recommended to plan for replacement in advance even if it is temporarily normal.

Note:

- Avoid short circuit during operation, the electrolyte is corrosive.

- If some batteries in a series/parallel battery pack fail, it is recommended to replace the entire battery pack to avoid mixing old and new batteries and causing imbalance.

- Used lead-acid batteries must be recycled by professional organizations.
