Product Introduction of DOWSIL™ 3140 RTV Coating
Basic Product Attributes
DOWSIL™ 3140 is a one-part, translucent, room-temperature
vulcanizing (RTV) silicone coating/adhesive with excellent
flowability and self-leveling properties. It is solvent-free,
moisture-cured, and certified to UL 94 V-1, IPC-CC-830B, and
military standards MIL-A-46146 and MIL-I-46058C. Ideal for
electronics protection and circuit board encapsulation.
Product Description
DOWSIL™ 3140 cures at room temperature (25°C) without ovens,
reducing energy consumption and production costs. The cured
elastomer offers excellent electrical insulation (dielectric
strength 385 V/mil) and weather resistance (operating range -45°C
to 200°C). Its UV indicator feature aids in manual/automated
inspection of coating quality.
Special Properties
Flame Resistance: UL 94 V-1 certified (1.4 mm thickness) for
fire-sensitive applications.
Fast Processing: Tack-free time 116 min (25°C), accelerable with
mild heat (<60°C).
Adhesion: Bonds well to metals, ceramics, glass, and select
plastics (peel strength 40 ppi).
Eco-Friendly: Solvent-free with 95.7% non-volatile content (NVC).
Applications
Electronics Protection: Corrosion-sensitive components,
rigid/flexible PCB coating.
Encapsulation: Pin sealing, solder joint coverage, thin-section
potting.
Industrial Uses: Sensor encapsulation, LED component protection
