Testing Equipment
Introduction:
NBS Plastic Smoke Density Testing Equipment is a test equipment
used to measure smoke density according to the technical conditions
specified in EN 45545-2, ISO5659.2-2006 and ASTM E662 standards.
This standard applies to the determination of the specific optical
density of smoke produced by plastic combustion, with the maximum
specific optical density being the test result. The equipment is
used to evaluate the smoke performance of plastics under specified
conditions.
The whole set of instruments consists of a closed test chamber, a
photometric system, a radiation cone, a combustion system, an
igniter, a test chamber, a bracket, a thermometer and a smoke
density test software; the circuit is developed using a single-chip
microcomputer, with high technical content and stable performance.
NBS Plastic Smoke Density Testing Equipment is suitable for all
plastics and is also suitable for evaluating other materials (such
as rubber, textile coverings, painted surfaces, wood, and other
materials). It is widely used in production plants in the plastics
industry and the solid materials industry as well as scientific
research and testing units.

ASTM E662 smoke density test mode:
25kw/m2 irradiation + flame and 25kw/m2 irradiation + flameless
ISO 5659-2 smoke density test mode:
Mode 1: 25kw/m2 irradiation + flame
Mode 2: 25kw/m2 irradiation + flameless
Mode 3: 50kw/m2 irradiation + flame
Mode 4: 50kw/m2 irradiation + flameless
ASTM E662 test requirements:
This standard is generally cited in NFPA 130, and Ds (1.5) and Ds
(4.0) are required
ISO 5659-2 smoke density test requirements:
Generally in EN 45545-2, DIN 5510-2 and BS 6853, each with
different requirements.
Main Feature:
- Test chamber is composed of a box, a sample box, a radiation cone,
an igniter, a light transmission and measuring device, and other
related control devices.
- Test chamber with full-width opening door, allowing easy access for
sample loading and chamber cleaning.
- Controls are mounted beside the chamber for convenient operation.
They are not obstructed when the door is open.
- Smoke density and temperature are on digital displays for easier
use and greater accuracy.
- Safety blow-out panel, easily replaceable, allows for safe
operation of the test method.
- Gas measurement ports are provided for optional measurements of
toxic gases.
- Cabinet designed with a standard 19" rack, for simple addition of
gas analyzers and a chart recorder, and other control units.
