Industry Development Background: In 2012, DJI Dajiang Innovation
applied drone technology to the agricultural field and established
DJI Dajiang Agriculture in 2015. With the rapid development of
agricultural drones, they are no longer merely used for pesticide
application but can also perform operations such as fertilizing and
sowing. The term "agricultural drones" gradually replaced
"agricultural pest control drones". Compared to manual operations,
agricultural drones can save agricultural water usage and improve
pesticide utilization rates, presenting significant economic
benefits and aligning with the trends of agricultural modernization
and intelligence.
DJI Product Development Background: In 2012, the DJI team
discovered during market research that model aircraft enthusiasts
were using DJI flight control modules to assemble drones with
pesticide tanks for pesticide spraying in rice fields. The reason
was the aging of rural labor force, and there was an awkward
situation where there were no available workers for pest control
operations. After three years of research, DJI's first agricultural
drone MG-1 was released, achieving automated operations for
agricultural pest control spraying. Subsequently, DJI continued to
innovate, applying technologies such as automatic navigation,
intelligent spraying, and obstacle recognition to agricultural
drones.
Representative products and features: The DJI T60 is an important
product in its agricultural spraying drones. It features 56-inch
high-strength propellers, large-capacity motors and high-power
electronic controllers. The single-axis comprehensive pulling force
has been increased by 33%. It comes with a 50-liter water tank,
dual atomizing centrifugal spray heads that optimize the spray
plate flow channel design, with the droplet size ranging from 50 to
500 micrometers and adjustable precisely. The flow rate of the dual
spray heads can reach 18 liters per minute. It performs well in
scenarios requiring large water volumes such as dry fields.
Additionally, the T60 also has advanced image recognition and
obstacle avoidance systems, enabling more intelligent and precise
execution of spraying tasks.
Market application situation: DJI holds a high market share in
agricultural drones and is widely used. By the end of 2020, the
annual aerial spraying of DJI's spraying drones exceeded 500
million acres, and the crops they are applied to have expanded from
a single type of rice to over 100 types. The application scenarios
have expanded from pesticide broadcasting to fertilizer, feed
broadcasting, and field mapping, and have achieved large-scale
application in rice, wheat, corn, citrus and other crop planting
areas.
