    1.Description

    The falling rod viscometer (also known as the Lare viscometer) is a commonly used instrument for measuring certain rheological properties (apparent viscosity, false yield value, shortening, etc.) of non-Newtonian fluids such as printing inks (fluids whose viscosity varies with shear rate). It is generally believed that the results of the Lare drop rod test can ideally describe some rheological properties of the ink during the printing process, are applicable to the actual control of viscosity during ink production, and are often used as technical requirements for acceptance by both the seller and the buyer. This drop rod viscometer is designed and manufactured in accordance with the international standard ISO12644 and the ASTM D 4040-10 standard "Printing Technology - Determination of Rheological Properties of Paste Inks and Their Binders using Drop rod viscometers". Its principle is: Measure the falling time required for the drop rod to pass through the pores coated with the test sample under different loading loads. With the aid of appropriate flow models (Carson model, Bingham model or exponential law model), obtain the apparent viscosity of the sample (the viscosity value at a certain shear rate) by applying the linear regression method. The apparent viscosity (sometimes also referred to as Lare viscosity), yield value and shortness ratio (often simply referred to as shortness) obtained by the Lare drop test.
