Production Description
In a water - tube boiler, the waterwall is basically the furnace wall made up of refractory material and tubes. The tubes are spaced out evenly and usually link up to headers. These headers then connect back to the main part of the boiler where steam gets generated.
So, what’s the deal with waterwalls? They’ve got two big jobs. First, they soak up heat that would otherwise just float away into the air, using it to warm up the water inside the boiler. Second, they keep the refractory material cool. Why’s that important? Well, it stops the refractory from cracking and breaking apart, which is called spalling.
