Description
Magnesium sulfate, also known as bitter sulfur, bitter salt, epsom
salt, and epsom salt, is a magnesium-containing compound. It
appears as colorless or white weatherable crystals or white powder.
It is odorless. It has a bitter and salty taste. It is
deliquescent. Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate loses six molecules of
crystal water at 150℃ and loses all crystal water at 200℃. The
density of the anhydrous substance is 2.66, the melting point is
1124℃, and it decomposes at the same time. It is easily soluble in
water, alcohol, and glycerol.
Main use
1. Fertilizer use: Magnesium sulfate is used as a fertilizer in
