Carbon steel is an alloy steel with iron as the matrix and mainly
containing carbon elements. According to the carbon content, it can
be classified into low-carbon steel (<0.25%), medium-carbon
steel (0.25% - 0.60%) and high-carbon steel (>0.60%). In
numerical control machining, different types of carbon steel have
their own unique performance advantages:
- Low-carbon steel has good ductility and plasticity, and is easy to
form and weld. CNC machining low-carbon steel parts are often used
to manufacture structural components such as thin plates and steel
pipes.
- Medium carbon steel has both high strength and good toughness,
making it an ideal material for manufacturing mechanical parts,
shafts, connectors, etc.
- High-carbon steel has high hardness and strong wear resistance, and
is suitable for manufacturing tools, molds, springs and other
components with high wear resistance requirements.
1. Characteristics and technical parameters of numerical control
machining
Cutting speed and spindle speed:
When performing turning and milling operations on CNC machined
parts, we usually use a cutting speed of 100-250 m/min based on
different carbon steel materials and tool selections.
Feed rate:
To achieve the best processing effect, we choose a reasonable feed
rate. For example, in turning operations, when the feed rate per
tooth is set at 0.2mm/ tooth, the feed rate is approximately 958.4
mm/min, while maintaining good cutting stability.
Cutting depth:
According to the complexity and size requirements of the parts
processed by CNC, the cutting depth is usually adjusted between 1
and 5mm. This can not only ensure the processing efficiency but
also guarantee the surface quality of the product.
