What is chrome mirror powder coating?
Chrome mirror powder coating is a specialized type of powder
coating designed to create a "highly reflective, mirror-like chrome
finish" on metal surfaces. Unlike traditional chrome plating (which
uses electroplating with chromium), this process applies a dry
powder that, when cured, mimics the appearance of polished chrome.
It combines aesthetics with the durability and environmental
benefits of powder coating.
Key Features
1. Appearance:
- Ultra-smooth, "mirror-like reflective surface" resembling
polished chrome.
- Often enhanced with metallic pigments (e.g., aluminum flakes or
specialty additives) to boost shine.
2.Composition:
- Base Resin: Typically polyester, epoxy, or hybrid resins (not
pure chrome metal).
- Pigments/Additives: Fine metallic particles (e.g., aluminum) or
reflective pigments for gloss.
- May include a clear topcoat to protect the reflective layer and
enhance durability.
3. Application Process:
- Electrostatic Spraying: Powder is charged and adheres to a
grounded metal substrate.
- Curing: Heated to 160–200°C(320–392°F) to melt, flow, and form a
smooth, reflective film.
