The Bailey platform is mainly composed of Bailey panel. A Bailey panel typically consists of upper and lower chords. The upper and lower chords are usually made of high - strength steel and play a crucial role in bearing axial tensile and compressive forces. Connected to the chords are vertical members and diagonal members.

In addition to the truss structure, it also includes a variety of connection components. Connecting pins are essential for joining different units of the Bailey panel. These pins are inserted into the holes at the ends of the truss members, enabling adjacent units to be spliced together and transfer internal forces. Bolts are also used to strengthen connections, especially in areas that require higher fastening strength, such as the connection between the Bailey panel and the foundation structure or ancillary facilities.

Maintenance of Bailey Type Trestle Bridge and Platform

Visual Inspection

Conduct visual inspections of Bailey panels regularly (it is recommended to do it once a week or every two weeks, depending on the usage frequency and environment). Check whether there are obvious deformations, dents, abrasions, and corrosions on the surface of the Bailey panels. For slight abrasions, record their positions and extents and closely monitor their changes. In case of severely deformed or corroded Bailey panels, replace them promptly.

Structural Inspection

Carry out a comprehensive structural inspection at least once a month. Check whether the overall structure of the Bailey platform is stable, with particular attention paid to whether there are abnormal gaps or displacements at the connections. Use measuring tools (such as calipers and levels) to detect dimensional changes and levelness changes at key positions. If significant displacement or deformation exceeding the allowable range is found, stop using the platform immediately and evaluate and repair the structure.
