    Hastelloy B-2 is a nickel-molybdenum alloy known for its exceptional resistance to reducing environments, such as hydrochloric acid and other non-oxidizing acids. It is a solid-solution-strengthened alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in harsh chemical environments, particularly those involving sulfuric, hydrochloric, and phosphoric acids. The ASTM B564 specification covers the requirements for nickel alloy forgings, including Hastelloy B-2, in the form of bars, rings, and other shapes.



    Material Composition:

    The chemical composition of Hastelloy B-2 typically includes:

    Nickel (Ni): Balance (approximately 65-70%)

    Molybdenum (Mo): 26-30%

    Iron (Fe): 2.0% max

    Chromium (Cr): 1.0% max

    Cobalt (Co): 1.0% max

    Manganese (Mn): 1.0% max

    Silicon (Si): 0.10% max

    Carbon (C): 0.02% max

    Sulfur (S): 0.03% max

    Phosphorus (P): 0.04% max

    The low carbon content and absence of chromium in Hastelloy B-2 make it highly resistant to the formation of carbide precipitation during welding or exposure to high temperatures.
