MAU Overview
Albumin is one of the important plasma proteins. Under normal
circumstances, the molecular weight of albumin is large, and it can
not pass through the glomerular basement membrane. Therefore, in
the urine of healthy people, there is only a very low concentration
of albumin, which is not more than 20 mg per liter of urinary
albumin, so it is also known as "urinary microalbumin". When the
disease occurs, the glomerular basement membrane is damaged,
resulting in the change of permeability. Any lesion that can cause
the increase of glomerular basement membrane permeability can lead
to the excretion of albumin. At this time, albumin into the urine,
urine albumin concentration will continue to rise.
