► Brief Introduction

Measuring the degree of oxygen saturation in the blood (also known as pulse oxygen saturation, usually abbreviated as ops) adopts the principles of light spectrum and volume monitoring. The led emits lights with two specific band widths, which are selectively absorbed by hemoferrum and deoxyhemoglobin. The optical receptor measures changes in light intensity after light passes through the capillary network and estimates the ratio of haemoferrum to total haemoglobin.

► Preparation steps before SpO2 / pulse measurement

1) insert the cable of the SpO2 sensor into the SpO2 socket of the monitor.

2) put the SpO2 sensor on the patient's finger, the screen should show the SpO2 waveform and calculate the SpO2 value and the pulse.

3) adjust SpO2 and related pulse monitoring parameters.

► Connection between patient and monitor

1. Insert the cable of the SpO2 sensor into the base marked SpO2 and then place the sensor on the finger of the patient.

2. After the SpO2 sensor is connected to the patient, the screen will display the SpO2 waveform and then calculate the spo2 value and the pulse value.

► Note

When using the spo2 sensor, care must be taken to protect external light sources, such as thermotherapy light or ultraviolet heating light, otherwise the measurements may be altered. In conditions such as shock, hypothermia, anemia or the use of drugs that activate blood vessels, and with the presence of substances such as carboxyhemoglobin, methemoglobin, methylene blue, the result of the spo2 measurement may not be accurate
